An effective way to test software

Hello, can anyone recommend an effective way to test software for security vulnerabilities? I have an assignment to hire people to do this for our office. I hope you can help me out.

Hi, my company did a security test of our enterprise software about six months ago, and one of the testers told me a little bit about it.
